It can make a difference on the minnows you use not that big of one. I always prefer shiners over dace for the extra flash. I think the size is more important i like a 3" or so minnow on a jig or spoon and a live line i might run a 6" sucker or just dead stick a minnow on a spoon close to my jigging hole.

Rookie to Walley on the ice

    Hello everyone,
To start, I must say this is the best forum I have ever been on.
I have been ice fishing all my life and at 48years old I figured I would try a different area and a different species of fish to catch. I grew up very close Lancaster and have been fishing Perch and Pike on the ice since my dad was able to bring me.

I am looking forward going to Quinte very shortly but I do have a stupid question,,,,,, I am have Shinner minows, does it make a difference what type of minnows I use or do you have better luck with another kind?

Thanks again for all the great posts
