The bite at potters is off and on now. It seems there is a good morning bite and again in the afternoon and the rest of the time they just don't move around.

    Welcome loonietoonie

If you want to fish the west end I suggest Potters Creek as an entry point. You don't have to stay there but there is free parking and most of the time fish! The ice is about 12 inches of perfect black ice so not to worry in the immediate area. There is even a hut operator there Quinte Ice Huts.

    Hello Fellow Ice Anglers

I live in Oshawa and frequent the Beaverton/Port Bolster area and Frenchman's Bay ,Pickering, for my ice season. My open water shore fishing season is usually around Oshawa and in the Beaverton and Canal Lake area. I unfortunately don't have a boat, but I like top-water fishing for bass from boats with frogs. I don't have any experience on Quinte so I thought it would be a good idea to get some education on as where to go ice fishing this winter. I have two friends who want to go Monday and I'm trying to get as much info for them as I can. We're coming from Oshawa so a closer West side location would be ideal, however ice safety should dictate where we choose to go. I've heard before that ice conditions in the Bay can be unpredictable and if you don't know what you're doing and where you're going it can be hazardous. Any information I can get would be great. The target species is walleye, but I'll take what I can get. I fish Simcoe so I do love a good perch. I understand most fishermen are secretive to certain locations. I just want a good day of fishing the Bay and still make it home in good health and spirit. You can also find me under the same name on the lake Simcoe message board. Loonie...
