    Shad

I thought the "shad" would be gone by now. Do they ever leave?

When you say shad do you mean Alewife? There are 2 strains of shad in Lake Ontario and non of them ever leave. The alewife spawn is long over. Normally is finished by mid July.

Yes, I meant the alewifes. Now I'm seeing huge balls of what I assume to be baitfish on my depth-finder. Do you know what they are? I'm up here from the States and can't get the walleyes interested in anything in the tackle box. Any advice will be appreciated.

How deep are you fishing? Are you fishing inside or out on the lake?

You might have to get out the worm harness.

Been switching between Jointed Shad Raps, harnesses and Lucky Strikes. I guess all we can do is keep at it! Thanks!
